Research has shown that not all fat is equal. There are two main types of fat; visceral and subcutaneous.

Subcutaneous Fat is the type found under the skin which causes dimpling and cellulite. While this fat is not primarily a health concern it can cause body image dissatisfaction.

Visceral Fat is found in the abdomen surrounding vital organs. It can infiltrate the liver and other organs such as the heart. Measurements over 150cm2 has been linked to diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, high cholesterol and stroke.

Each fat type responds differently to diet and exercise. A body composition Test (completed via a single slice CT scan) provides vital information about fat distribution to help with the customisation of a diet and exercise regime specific for your body type.
